3.Haiku: Nothing Unites Strangers Like a Late Bus
Jul 1st, 2009 by apulyoble

Hi, this is something different to the pieces from Quattro Nuove Danze nel Vecchio Stile; it’s from my Haiku collection and it’s called Nothing Unites Strangers Like a Late Bus (more of these later). I’m doing this now because of the important event of my car turning 200000: I know everybody LOVES to see a clock rolling over from 9s to 0s -- it is very exciting. I needed an appropriate tune to reflect the solemnity of the occasion, There’s no score to buy yet … I really needed something to do! If this doesn’t work go to youtube. Go on then!

I’m being quite lazy I know: I haven’t done anything about the poor sound quality of my video recording equipment. Regardless, here’s the second installment from the same collection of pieces and these videos are intended only as demos for the pieces. The score can be downloaded for £0.99 (post free!), get it now -- it will change your life. This video is also on youtube.

Thanks

1. Istampitta de Sarah and a home for fallen music

Hello, obviously, and welcome to the new new new new new new website.

This site is being used as a platform for the digital publication and promotion of my music: you won’t find music by anyone else here. I’ll be putting my freshly composed pieces on here with links to buy the score as an instantly available pdf download, should you wish to (and you do wish to don’t you … or do you …? yes you do).

The scores will be in notation, but I could be persuaded to do tab versions if asked.

The first piece is called Istampitta de Sarah: it’s from a group of four called Quattro Nuove Danze nel Vecchio Stile. It forms part of my sojourn into music of the past, a search for lost times if you like. There’s more than a touch of the Renaissance here, yet it’s modern enough to warrant a life.

I think pieces stand a better chance of survival if they are big and hard or if the smaller ones stick together in sets, so the rest will be on this site soon.

The late, great Frank Zappa pointed out to me many years ago over tea and biscuits, that 50% of music is now consumed with the eyes*: he was right of course -- almost too correct, and perhaps he’s even more righterer now than ever before-er! So, finally catching up with the times and the rest of the world (this is the 90’s after all), I’ve gone visual: though I did ditch my telly over a year ago and it’s about time we brought L.P.s back.

My first video, Isn’t it exciting! The sound quality isn’t great but it’s the best I’ve got for now. The background noises are NOT those made by my collection of exotic birds, but the noise of the hard drive of my pc as I record. This clip is also available on youtube.

I hope you love it.

*this is true, though he didn’t say it to me. What Zappa did say to me was “if you don’t stop mithering me, I’ll call the police, I really will!”
